Maude Little McCoy, age 106, resident of Midland for 75+ years and Woodbridge, Virginia for the past 13 years, passed away Thursday, March 24, 2011, at Potomac Place Assisted Living Center in Woodbridge, Virginia. A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 1, at Mill Grove United Methodist Church, Midland, N. C., where she has been a member since the 1920s. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the Social Hall at the church following the service. Mrs. Little was born December 20, 1904, in Stanly County. She was the daughter of the late Jacob Ernest Little and Dora Alice Jenkins Little. She and L. W. “Mac†McCoy were married for 74 years and made their home in Midland as they raised four sons and a daughter. She was preceded in death by her husband, L. W. McCoy; son L.W. “Bunk†McCoy, Jr., and daughter-in-law, Georgia McCoy. Survivors include three sons, Norman McCoy of Murrell’s Inlet, S. C., Robert McCoy and wife, Avie, and Douglas McCoy and wife, Frances, all of Midland; daughter, Lana McCoy Bailey and husband, Zuill, of Woodbridge, VA; sister, Willie Jay Easley of Stanfield; nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
