Mavis Lee Hathcock Kidd, 86, of Oakboro passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at Trinity Place in Albemarle. The family will receive friends on Monday, March 4, 2013 from 2 PM to 4 PM at First Assembly. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. George Mullen with Chaplain Jeff Kidd assisting, will follow at 4 PM. Burial will be at Oakboro Cemetery. At other times the family will be meeting at the home of her son Jeff, 24178 Endy Rd. in Albemarle. Mavis was born in Stanfield on October 19, 1926 to the late Marvin Hathcock and the late Tellie Mae Morgan Hathcock. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Elton Kidd; and two grandsons, Phillip Kidd and Jesse Kidd. She is survived by four sons, Dennis Kidd and wife Kathy of Oakboro, Tim Kidd and wife Patsy of Monroe, Wesley Kidd and wife Pam of Stanfield, Jeff Kidd and wife Twyla of Albemarle; two daughters, Kay Hodges and husband Gene, and Barbara Panos and husband Greg, both of Charlotte; ten grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. Mavis enjoyed gardening, quilting, and sewing. She was a loyal member of First Assembly.
