Max Norman Kinlaw, 91, of Albemarle, passed away Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Atrium Health Stanly.
Max was born November 1, 1930 in Robeson County to the late Nash Baker Kinlaw and the late Mary Elizabeth Kinlaw. He was also preceded in death by two wives, Carol Booze Kinlaw, and Nora Dean Kinlaw and brother, Nash Kinlaw.
After graduating high school, Max went on to attend East Carolina University where he played football for two years and then went on to enlist in the Air Force. He was in the Air Force From 1951 - 1954 where he would become Crew Chief on a B-26 Invader. Max enjoyed his time in the service while earning numerous medals of honor. In 1963 he moved to Albemarle with International Harvester and owned other local businesses over the years.
A Graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 1st, 2022, at 1:00 PM at Stanly Gardens of Memory in Albemarle officiated by Dr. Kendall Cameron.
Survivors include sons, Jeff (Beverly) Kinlaw of Albemarle, Scott (Mary Susan) Kinlaw of Greensboro; grandchildren, Gantt (Sara) Kinlaw, Max Kinlaw, Margaret (Ryan Matthews) Kinlaw, Sara Kinlaw and great-granddaughter, Palmer Matthews.
In addition to flowers memorials may be made to Wounded Warriors Project at 1990 Fordham Dr Suite 100, Fayetteville, NC 28304.
Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle is serving the Kinlaw family.
