May Barringer Burleson, age 87, of Albemarle, passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at Trinity Place surrounded by her loving family. The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle on Thursday, April 18, 2013 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Gary Hunsucker and Rev. John Melton, will be held at Vine Life Baptist Church at 2:00pm. She will lie in a 30 minute state prior to the service. Burial will follow at Pine Grove United Methodist Church. At other times, the family will meet at 26601 Parker Rd, Albemarle NC 28001. Mrs. Burleson was born on April 30, 1925, to the late Charlie Lee Barringer and the late Pearlie Lillie Helms Barringer. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, J. Hugh Burleson; a daughter, Judy Burleson Morton; fourteen brothers and sisters. She is survived by a son; Steve Burleson and wife Jennifer of Salisbury; a daughter, Linda Griffin of Albemarle; a sister, Wilma Allen of Florida; eight grandchildren, Marie Martin and husband Joel, Brandy Hopkins and husband Ricky, Chris Burleson and friend Valerie, Stacey Burleson all of Albemarle, Aaron Cooper, Nicholas Weaver all of Salisbury, Darrell Burleson and wife Sarah of Midland, and Stephanie Burleson of Salisbury; seven great grandchildren, Dakota “Cody” Hopkins, Kayden Hopkins, Ava Martin, Cameron Martin all of Albemarle, Andrew Burleson of Midland, Savannah Nail and Noah Nail of Salisbury and a special son-in-law, JT Griffin of Albemarle. May was a member of Vine Life Baptist Church. In lue of flowers memorials may be made to Vine Life Baptist Church, 24655 St. Martin Rd., Albemarle, 28001. Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle is serving the Burleson family.
