Maynard Stickney

Maynard Francis Stickney, 93 years of age, of Albemarle, passed away Sunday, October 26, 2014 at Sandy Ridge Assisted Living in Candor.

Maynard was born January 30, 1921 in New York to the late Fred Horace Stickney and the late Gertrude Mary Stickney. He was also preceded in death by brother, Leon F. Stickney; and sister, Lorna Stickney.

Mr. Stickney retired from Alcoa in 1986 with 43-1/2 years of service. He proudly served his country in United States Air Force during World War II. He received his B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Syracuse University in 1950 and returned to work in the Industrial Engineering Department at Messena. He was transferred to Alcoa in Badin in 1956.

A service of committal officiated by Rev. Dr. James B. Bernacki will be at 1:00 PM, Thursday, October 30, 2014 in Stanly Gardens of Memory Mausoleum Chapel, 2001 East Main Street, Albemarle, NC.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Veronica Stickney of the home; sons, Alan Craig Stickney and Bruce Maynard Stickney also of the home.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Sandy Ridge Assisted Living in Candor, NC, espeically Robin and Joy. They also appreciate the kind care and love that the family received from First Health Hospice in Southern Pines.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Christ Episcopal Church, PO Box 657, Albemarle, NC 28002 or Homes of Hope, 1816-B East Main Street, Albemarle, NC 28001.
