Mazel Helms

Mazel Ethrilion Morris Helms, 92 years of age, of Albemarle, passed away Thursday, December 29, 2016 at the Hallmark Healthcare Center in Summerville, SC.

Mazel was born January 17, 1924 in Stanly County to the late Henry Travis Morris Sr. and the late Elizabeth Ann Blake Morris. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Carl Lee Helms, Jr.; sons, Carl Lee Helms, III, and Thomas Burton Helms; daughters, Martha Annyce Helms, and Mabel Brenda Moore; brothers, Bud Morris and Ben Morris; sisters, Mildred Wilkinson and Ruby Lowder.

A funeral service honoring the life of Mazel Helms and her son, Thomas Helms, who died October 24, 2016, will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, January 5, 2017 at Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel and will be officiated by Rev. Adam Hatley. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:00 PM prior to the service at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Park, 1425 East Main Street, Albemarle.

Survivors include granddaughters, Susan Annyce Hamilton of Cherryville, and Lisa Marie Helms of Hendersonvillle; grandsons, Joe Gordon Moore, III, and Michael David Moore, of Summerville, SC; and one brother, Roger Morris Of Oak Island.

Mazel lived with her family in Albemale for most of her life and attended church locally.
