Mazelle Brown

Mazelle McLain Brown, 85, of Harrisburg, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, July 26, 2021.

Mazelle was born December 19, 1935 in Concord to the late James Jefferson McLain and the late Martha Adeline Weatherman McLain.  She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dewitt "Sonny" Talmadge Brown, Jr.; daughter, Mary Crayton; son, Rick Brown; and six siblings.

During her lifetime Mazelle was a devoted wife, loving mother, and the best granny. She was an honorary life time member of Women’s Presbyterian, at Harrisburg Presbyterian Church. She had a passion for teaching the word of god through Sunday school. As well, she loved to sing in the church choir. Mazelle was an avid book reader, and enjoyed playing bridge. Among many other things she was a talented seamstress, creating handmade clothing, blankets, and more.

A service in celebration of Mazelle's life will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, August 1, 2021 at Hartsell Funeral Home, Harrisburg.

Survivors include her daughter, Kathy Pierce, of Harrisburg, NC; grandchildren, Ryan Lupo and Katie Parr; great-grandchildren, Alyssa Mann and Reign Parr.
