Mazelle Smith

Mazelle Dupree Thomas Smith, 85 years of age, of Statesville, passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at Iredell Memorial Hospital in Statesville.

Mazelle was born April 12, 1929 in Oakboro, NC to the late Clyde Eugene Thomas and the late Nina Irene Speights Thomas. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, John, Kenneth, and Jessie Thomas; and sisters, Mildred Laney, Edith "Edy" Brotherton, and Hartsell Marie.

The graveside service will be at 3 pm Monday, July 28, 2014 at Love's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery, 808 South Love Chapel Rd., Stanfield officiated by Rev. Eugene Moore. At other times the family will be gathering at the home of her brother Larry Thomas, 5813 Beaver Dam Lane in Mint Hill.

She is survived by sons, Harold Smith and wife Patsy "PJ" of Statesville, Richard Smith and wife Jean of Kannapolis, and Anthony Folgman and wife Susan of Mooresville; daughter, Kelly Crowell of Midland; brothers, Larry Thomas and wife Cathy of Mint Hill, and Bill Thomas and wife Huldah of Kannapolis, sisters, Ruby Rippy of Belmont, and Peggy Pope of Kannapolis; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
