Melanie Dixon

Melanie Anne Carson Dixon , 65, passed away suddenly on the night of April 13th, 2014 at her home in Concord.

Melanie was born on December 9th, 1948 at Mercy Hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina. The first child of the late Plummer Grady Carson, Jr. and the late Billy Anne Newman Carson, she was raised and educated in Atlanta, Georgia. She worked for years as a laboratory technician before her transition to office management and administration. Melanie lived in South Florida and New Jersey before returning to Charlotte in 1980. "Mel" loved nothing more than her family, time at home, gardening and cooking. Her love for nature and animals (especially her dog, Moe) was unparalleled. Mel never saw a stray animal that she didn’t take in and feed, including deer, squirrels, raccoons and birds. She will not only be missed by her family, but all the wildlife in her neighborhood.

The memorial service will be held on Friday, April 18, 2014 at 1:00pm at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord Chapel.

Melanie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jessica and Dan Hurd, her son Peter Picariello, his three children, Melanie, Zoey and Vinnie, her brother, William G. (Corky) Carson, wife Teresa and sister Cynthia Stanley, husband Bill and their daughters, Laura and Katherine.
