Melody Culp Myers

Melody Peck Culp Myers, 76, of Albemarle, passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at Atrium Health Stanly Hospital in Albemarle.

Melody was born February 19, 1948, in Stanly County, North Carolina to the late Robert L. Peck and the late Ruby Dixon Peck. She was also preceded in death by sister, Vickie Peck.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm - 3:45 pm, Sunday, February 16, 2025, in the fellowship hall at Canton Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at 4:00 pm at Canton Baptist Church in Albemarle officiated by Pastor Curtis Williams. Burial will immediately follow at the Fairview Memorial Park at 1425 East Main Street, Albemarle.

Survivors include daughter, Amy (Stan) Shelton of New London, NC; grandchildren, Grayson (Hannah) Shelton, Reese (Kathryn Paige) Shelton, and Camille (Chasen) Parrish; sister, Becky (David) Preslar; nephews, Matthew (Christen) Preslar and Mason (Meredith) Preslar; grand-nephew, Noah Preslar; and dear friends, Lynne Edwards, Barbara Fine, and Patricia (William) Braxton.

Melody was a graduate of Pfeiffer College. After graduating, she began her over 30 year teaching career at Ridgecrest Elementary School educating and loving many generations. Melody was a lifelong member of First Lutheran Church of Albemarle and in her later years she attended Canton Baptist Church with family. Her hobbies and interests included gardening, reading, going to the movies, fashion, shopping, painting, knitting, traveling, and the beach where she loved to collect seashells. Melody loved animals and especially enjoyed spending time with her cat, Cali. She also enjoyed attending the Morning Glories at Canton Baptist Church and Best Bible Buddies (a.k.a. BBBs) with all of her dear friends. She was most looking forward to the birth of her first two great-grandchildren this spring.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Canton Baptist Church.
