Mercedes Moncayo Larrea

Mercedes Elina Moncayo Larrea, 88, of Concord, passed away Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at home with family by her side.

Mercedes was born April 8, 1930 in Ecuador to the late Manuel Moncayo and the late Lucrecia Larrea.  She was also preceded in death by husband, Juan Domingo Alava; son, Marcelo Alava; daughter, Rosa Alava; two grandsons, Tito Navarrete and Daniel Alava; four brothers, Ernesto Moncayo, Cristobal Moncayo, Alberto Moncayo and Carlos Diaz; and two sisters, Lida Moncayo and Judith Diaz.

Survivors include daughter, Martha (Jose) Fernandez; daughter, Katy (Nilo) Navarrete; daughter, Ruth (Alex) Arias; son, Manolo (Graciela) Alava; daughter, Magdalena (Milton) Cantos; daughter, Mercedes (Jimmy) Rivadeneira; son, Paul (Norma) Alava; 19 grandchildren, Cintya, Carina, Arturo, Milton, Paul, Felix, Anita, Manolo, Melina, Maria Jose, David, Jimmy, Ricardo, Tito, Noelia, Manuel, Gian, Steven, and Giuliana; 6 great-grandchildren, Henry, Adrianna, Mark, Camila, Lucas, and Ella Katina; and sister, Amandita Moncayo.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Thursday, June 21, 2018 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will be 11:00 am Friday, June 22, 2018 at St. James The Greater Catholic Church, 139 Manor Ave. SW, Concord, officiated by Rev. Fabio de Jesus Maron Morales.  Burial will follow at St. James Catholic Cemetery, 2323 Gold Hill Rd., Concord.
