Merlyn Couet

Merlyn Joyce Couet, 83, of Concord, NC, passed away Sunday, January 19, 2014 at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast in Concord. Joyce was born August 4, 1930 to the late Viola (Grooms) Davis in Fayetteville,NC. A "Celebration of Life Service" will be held Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at Rocky Ridge United Methodist Church in Concord, officiated by Pastor Tam Weinsel at 11:00am. A private family burial will be held at Mission Baptist Church at a later date. She is survived by two daughters, Connie Drye and husband Jerry of Concord and Debbie Johnson and husband Clyde of Alpharetta,GA; son Don Couet of Charlotte, NC; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Joyce spent most of her life waitressing in Charlotte and raising her three children. She was a wonderful mother. She later became a talented artist, attended Central Piedmont and also taught art classes. She was full of joy and spent her last time on earth entertaining the residents of Concord Place in Concord, NC with her songs and dance. The family would like to thank the staff of Concord Place and the Nurses and Doctors of CMC- NorthEast who provided comfort during her last hours. Hartsell Funeral Home is serving the Couet family.
