Michael Charles Goldstein, of Charlotte, NC, passed away Saturday, April 16, 2011, at the age of 21. Michael was born January 11, 1990 in Charlotte. He was a vibrant individual who lived life to the fullest. He had the unique ability to be a friend to everyone he met, and kept a smile on the faces of all that knew him. The family will receive friends 6 – 8 p.m., Tuesday, April 19, at Hartsell Funeral Home, Midland. The funeral will be 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, in the Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel, Midland, officiated by Rev. Les Schofield. Burial will follow in the Canton Baptist Church Cemetery, Albemarle. He is survived by his father, David, his mother, Janet, his sister, Jessica, all of Charlotte, and his grandparents Wayne & Lucille Furr of Albemarle. Michael was a graduate of Z.B. Vance High School and of the Heavy Equipment and Transportation Technology program at CPCC. He was able to accomplish many goals he set for himself. He recently began his dream job as a diesel mechanic at Schneider National Trucking in Charlotte. His proudest moment came last winter when he shot his first deer. He was a lover of country music and everything about the southern way of life. Due to his giving nature, the family request that memorials be made to Carolinas Medical Center, Heart of a Champion, c/o Sports Medicine, P. O. Box 32861, Charlotte, NC 28232-2861. The Heart of a Champion Organization conducts sports physicals for students in the Charlotte area, and help to detect heart conditions that could be fatal for the athletes.
