Michael Lawhon

Michael “Mickey” Eugene Lawhon, age 71, of 1401 Ross Drive, Albemarle, passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at the home of his daughter, Michelle Ussery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 26, 2012, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle. The funeral service will be Friday, January 27, 2012, at 4 p.m. at Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ron Honeycutt and Broc Sowell officiating. The burial will follow at Stanly Gardens of Memory Mausoleum with military rites conducted by the Stanly County DAV Chapter 12. At other times the family will meet at the home of his daughter Michelle and Ricky Ussery, 29554 Nelson Mountain Road, Albemarle, NC. He was born on August 26, 1940 to the late William Dunlap Lawhon and the late Helen Marie Holt Lawhon. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife in 2009, Mildred Ann Howell Lawhon. Mr Lawhon retired from Brown Creek Prison as a substance abuse counselor. Mr. Lawhon is survived by two sons, Michael Aaron Lawhon of Florida; Samuel Dunlap Lawhon of New London; four daughters, Michelle Lawhon Ussery of Millingport; Patricia Diane Morgan of Albemarle; Mary Ann Marie Barringer and Teresa Dawn Helms of Aquadale; two sisters, Pat Wood of Concord, and Penny Nichols of Atlanta; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
