Michael Ernest Newton

Michael Ernest Newton, 57, of Concord, passed away Saturday, February 8, 2025 at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville.

Michael was born May 16, 1967 in Oceanside, New York to the late William Cory Arthur Newton and the late Marion Newton.

Michael had a heart of gold. He had a beautiful mind and wrote some of the most eloquent and inspiring short stories and poems. He loved classic cars and the stock market. Michael was an avid history buff and reader. Michael was willing to help anyone who needed it. Michael loved the outdoors and all animals. Music was always playing - classic rock! He never met a stranger without saying hello and trying to start up a conversation. Michael loved his family and Thanksgiving was his favorite time of the year. 

The family will receive friends from 4-7 pm on Friday February 21, 2025 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord, located at 460 Branchview Drive NE, Concord, NC 28025. Immediately following please help us continue to celebrate Michael at Lil Robert’s Place located at 25 Union Street S. Concord, NC 28025. 

Survivors include sister; Amy Newton O’ Rourke and her husband Michael O' Rourke, brother Bill Newton (Christine), brother Bob Newton (Joy). Aunt Kathy, Aunt Cordie, numerous cousins and his nephew Cory(Julie) and niece Ashley (Jake). 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Michael's name to the following organization Hospice Of Irdell County. 

The family would like to thank Hospice of Iredell for the compassion and care given to Michael. 

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Shah and his staff at A Caring Alternative for their love, compassion and care of Michael.
