Mildred Mcleod

Mildred Christian McLeod, 95, of Charlotte, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 18, 2020 at Morningside Assisted Living of Concord.

Mildred was born March 7, 1925 in Lee North Carolina to the late Duncan Hinton McLeod and Lola Groce McLeod.  She was preceded in death by seven sisters, Gertrude McNeil, Beatrice Williford, Clarice Wilkie, Elma Such, Ruth Kondratovich, Adeline Keith, Peggy Buchanan and one brother, Herman McLeod.

She loved her family, her home place and church in Sanford.  Mildred also showed much love to her nieces and nephews, some she even helped to raise.  She enjoyed having a pig picking every October for family and friends.

Mildred graduated from Benhaven High School where she played basketball. She worked at Edward's Company and Heins Telephone Company in Sanford before moving to Charlotte in 1948.  Mildred worked for Southern Bell for thirty-five and a half years before retiring in 1984.  She was a member of CWA Local 3603 and Telephone Pioneers of America.

A special thanks to Morningside Assisted Living staff for there professional help in taking care of Mildred and also to Kim from Hospice of Cabarrus.

A drop in visitation will be held from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm, Tuesday, April 21, 2020 at Hartsell Funeral Home Harrisburg.  A private graveside service will be held at Morris Chapel UMC Cemetery in  Sanford, NC.
