Mildred Mercer

Mildred Wilson Mercer, age 95 of Albemarle, NC, passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at her home. The family will receive friends in the church parlor of Main Street United Methodist Church in Albemarle, NC on Friday, December 2, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 2, 2011 in the sanctuary of the Main Street United Methodist Church. Reverends Fred Carpenter and Billy Rintz will officiate. Burial will follow at the Stanly Gardens of Memory. At other times the family will meet at her home. Mrs. Mercer was born on January 16, 1916 in Sampson County, to the late James Cleveland Wilson and the late Katherine Elizabeth Royal Wilson. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Mercer; one son, James E. Mercer, Jr., three brothers and three sisters. She is survived by one daughter, Ann Wilson Mercer of Albemarle, NC; grandchildren, Shawn Mercer of Raleigh, NC and Holly Mercer of Bryan, TX; two great grandchildren, Ashley and Nicole. Mrs. Mercer was a school teacher for many years in the Albemarle and Stanly County School Systems. The family requests that memorials be made to Main Street United Methodist Church, 1100 West Main Street, Albemarle, NC 28001. Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle is serving the Mercer family.
