Mildred Shankle

Mildred Brooks Shankle, 92 of Albemarle went home to be with her Lord on Friday March 19, 2010. She was born in Catawba County on January 26, 1918 to Grady Lee Brooks, Sr. and Lomie Fink Brooks who preceded her in death. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 21, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle. A service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00pm on Monday March 22 at the First Lutheran Church of Albemarle. Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Park. In addition to her parents Mildred was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Daniel Augustus Shankle; three sisters, Hazel B. Little, Emma Rose B. Palmer, Ruth Ellen B. Bryson; two brothers Grady L. Brooks, Jr. and Joe C. Brooks; and her son-in-law Ned G. Thompson. She is survived by three daughters, Linda S. Thompson of Richfield, Sheila S. Barbee and husband Hilton of Red Cross, and Lou S. Page and husband Ronnie of Norwood; four granddaughters, Kim Thompson, Kelly Thompson Carver and husband Jimmy, Kristie Barbee Huber and husband Steve, and Ansley Page; one great grandson, three great-granddaughters, and three great great grandsons. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 6000 Fairview Rd, Charlotte, NC 28210-2255 or to the American Heart Association, 222 S.
