Mildred M. Staton, 82 years of age, of Concord, passed away Thursday, January 21, 2016 in Concord.
Mildred was born June 20, 1933 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Frank Christian Altenburg and Edith Jane Altenburg. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Janet Lea Staton.
The family will receive friends Monday, January 25, 2016 from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm at Calvary Lutheran Church in Concord. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm at Calvary Lutheran Church, officiated by Pastor Debbie Frye. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis.
Survivors include her loving husband of 60 years, Billy Staton of Concord; her daughters, Jill Suzanne Huneycutt of Sherrills Ford and Laura Jane Wilhelm of Salisbury; her son, William Christian "Chris" Staton (Kathy) of Cary; her sister, Margaret Edith Meyer of Concord; grandchildren, Michael Christian Staton, Jennifer Christine Andrews, Christie Nicole Burns, Madison Kayla Huneycutt, Mackenzie Noelle Huneycutt, Carlyle Suzanne Huneycutt, Tyler Staton Wilhelm and Hayley Jane Wilhelm; great grandchildren, William Christian Staton, Henry Thomas Staton, Elena Anne Staton and Channing Michael Davis.
Mildred was involved with various committees within her church. She wrote biographies for members of Calvary Lutheran Church who were 80 and older and she was a member of Square Dance Club.
