M.L. Bowers, Jr

M.L. Bowers Jr, 85, formerly of 20605 Austin Rd., Oakboro passed away peacefully Sept. 19th, 2009 at Britthaven of Piedmont in Albemarle. The service will be Tuesday, Sept. 22nd at Liberty Hill Primitive Baptist Church at 11am. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Elder Larry Austin and Rev. Adam Hatley will be officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. At other times the family will gather at the Bowers old home place, 20413 Austin Rd. Mr. Bowers was born May 24, 1924 to Luther and Mary Deese Bowers. He was a life long farmer who loved his family, Stanly Co. dirt, his cows, and his peach orchard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Martha Huneycutt Bowers, brothers, Horace Bowers, Roy Bowers, and Marvin Bowers., sisters, Bessie May Trivette, and Geneva Bowers. He is survived by his son, Doug and wife Myra, of Albemarle, daughters Nancy Bowers Hatley and husband Bud, Lynn Bowers Hunter and husband Louie, all of Oakboro. Grandchildren are Nadalie Bowers, Joy Bowers Greene, Adam and Jason Hatley, and six great grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Ruby Hatley and Lillian Poplin.
