Monique Pierre-Louis Bissainthe, 89, of Concord, made her triumphant transition from this heart to her celestial place on July 5th, 2021, at her residence surrounded by family.
Monique Pierre-Louis was born on January 12, 1932, in the rural section of Masson Port-Salut, a suburb of Les Cayes, Haiti to the late Durès Pierre-Louis and Célida Solomon. Monique grew up in Port-au-Prince where she was the seventh of nine children, four males and five females. She was raised by her older sibling, Marie Dulia Pierre-Louis, after her mother passed when Monique was a very young age.
Monique was married to Ulysse Bissainthe on March 30, 1963, where they both continued to reside in Port-au-Prince with their four children, two boys and two girls; until she came to live with her oldest daughter Ritha in the United States on July 17, 2000. There she helped raise her five granddaughters and great granddaughter.
Monique was a devoted servant of God, a savvy businesswoman, and a mother to all that were in need. Although she was a quiet person, Monique loved life. She loved telling stories to her grandchildren and always pushed the importance of knowing their history and culture.
Monique is proceeded by her husband, Ulysse Bissainthe. She is survived by her daughter Ritha and her husband Joseph Lauraire Bissainthe-Ciceron, her sons Josue and Joel Bissainthe, and her daughter Esthere Bissainthe. Her grandchildren Marie Scarla Louis-Wallace and her husband Jamie Wallace, Marie L. Ciceron-Hampton and her husband Gerroid Hampton, Marthe Sterline Guirand, Ritchie Anaise Ciceron-Glaspy and her husband Rakeem Glaspy, Laurita Ciceron, Steve Fritz-Gerald Beauplan, Marie Josee Jean Baptiste, Stanley Bissainthe, Moesha Jennifer Ciceron, Barbara Patricia Bissainthe, Immacula Bissainthe, Suze Nerlie Bissainthe, John Kerry Bissainthe, Kattiana Bissainthe. Monique is also survived by her 12 great grandchildren, who she helped raise Tathianna Marie Ciceron and Andrae Samuel Wallace. As well as thirty nieces and nephews one of which she raised Gislaine Chery, the oldest daughter of her sister Marie Dulia.
Many people called her Mme Ulysse / Ma Tante / Grandma / Soeur Monique; but all her grandchildren called her Gran’n. She will be in our memories forever.
