Myrtle Lewis

Alene Fryar Lewis, 90 years of age, of New London, passed away quietly on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at Stanly Manor in Albemarle.
Alene was born on September 13, 1925 in Guilford County. She graduated from McLeansville High School and was employed at Sears Roebuck & Company her entire working career. Alene married Joseph Earl Lewis on April 5, 1952. She enjoyed needle point, collecting antiques and spending time with her family. Alene is preceded in death by her parents, James Alexander Fryar, Sr. and Vannie Karon Isley Fryar; one sister, Margaret Louise Fryar; and two brothers, William Alexander Fryar and James Alexander Fryar, Jr., all of Gibsonville.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph Earl Lewis of the home; son, Joseph Earl Lewis, Jr. of Monroe; and two grandchildren, Jessica Ella Lewis of New London and Daniel Joseph Lewis of Norwood.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Stanly Manor, 625 Bethany Road, Albemarle, NC 28001 or Hospice of Stanly County & the Uwharrie, 906 North First Street, Albemarle, NC 28001.
