Nan Biggers won a victorious battle with cancer and MS on Saturday, June 26, 2010, at her Stoney Trace Apartment in Mint Hill, NC. Nan was born November 24, 1948, in Kershaw, South Carolina. She was a graduate of Kershaw High School, Presbyterian School of Nursing, Charlotte, NC, and UNC-Charlotte. She was a dedicated nurse to her many patients. She retired from nursing in 1986 after being diagnosed with MS. Even though she struggled with all the complications that came with MS, and later cancer, she was a wonderful step-mother to Brad Biggers, Greg Biggers, and Lynn Biggers Greene, homemaker, home nurse to her husband, Hank, of 32 years, a fabulous cook, avid gardener and a lover of her cats. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry (Hank) C. Biggers; parents, Jake W. Holden, Sr. and Lillian W. Holden; sisters, Dorthea Holden, Virginia Holden Irvine; brothers, Jake W. Holden, Jr., Loyd David Holden, and Lawrence J. (Jack) Holden. She is survived by a brother, Charles E. Holden and wife, Carol, of Knotts Island, NC; sister, Sara Margaret McManus and husband, Paul, of Midland, NC; and sister-in-law, Linda Holden, of Newport, NC. The family would like to thank her faithful caregiver and friend, Kim Howard, her many physicians, surgeons and nursing staff at Presbyterian Hospital for the care given Nan over the last year. A memorial service will be held, Saturday, July 3, 2010, at 11:00 a.m., at United Love Baptist Church, Midland. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Rev. Marvin Tyson will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Presbyterian Hospice and Palliative Care, P. O.
