Nancy Ann Carriker Blackwelder

Nancy Ann Carriker Blackwelder, 92, of Concord, passed away Friday, January 24, 2025.

Nancy was born August 13, 1932 in Gaston County, NC, to the late Casper Owen Carriker Sr. and the late Mary Jane Cline Carriker. Nancy was also preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph V. Blackwelder; brothers, Owen Carriker Jr. and John Carriker; and infant sister, Elizabeth Carriker.

Nancy attended the Cabarrus Memorial School of Nursing from 1950 - 1953. She retired from Cabarrus Memorial in 1994 after 44 years of faithful service. She was a role-model for others in the nursing field. Nancy happily married Rudolph Valentino Blackwelder on May 20, 1955, and they proudly raised two children. She loved gardening at her lake house. Nancy will be remembered for her great sense of humor and big laugh. She was a wonderful loving gift to her whole family. 

Survivors include daughter, Debbie Blackwelder Duke of Concord, NC; son, Tim Blackwelder and husband, Doug Hyder, of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Ed Duke Jr. and wife, Wendy, of Mt. Pleasant, NC, and Lisa Duke Mills, and husband, John, of Concord, NC; great-grandsons, Brady and Colby Duke of Mt. Pleasant, NC; brother, Sam Carriker and wife, Diane, of Newport, NC; sister, Jo Early and husband, Ken, of Salisbury, NC; sister, Jane Furr of Locust, NC; brother, Rev. Jim Carriker and wife, Bonnie, of Virginia Beach, VA; brother, Pete Carriker and wife, Nancy, of Concord, NC; brother, Ken Carriker and wife, Toni, of Thomasville, NC; sister, Rena O'Daniel and husband, Phillip, of Concord, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. 

The family will receive friends from 11:30 am - 12:45 pm, Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will follow 1:00 pm in the funeral home chapel, officiated by Rev. Sue Lynn White.
