Nathan Arey Huneycutt, age 81, of Oakboro, passed away on Thursday, January 05, 2012. The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle on Friday, January 6, 2012, from 6 pm until 8 pm. The funeral service will be held at Big Lick Baptist Church on Saturday, January 7 at 2 pm, officiated by Rev. Jeff Springer with a 30 minute state. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Military rites will be performed by the Stanly County DAV. Mr. Huneycutt was born on September 30, 1930, in Stanly County, to the late David Arey Huneycutt and the late Roxie Ann Burgess Huneycutt. He is survived by his wife, Doris McIntyre Huneycutt, of the home; daughter, Priscilla Huneycutt Burris; brother, Claude Huneycutt; sisters Virginia Hartsell, Cora Eudy and Myrtle Hartsell; grandchildren, Nathan Burris, Danny Burris, Sylvia Burris, and Kristie West; great-grandchildren, Julie Huneycutt, Brittany Renfro, and Courtney West. Mr. Huneycutt proudly served his country in the Korean War in 1952 and was a member of The Gideons International.
