Nell Herrin

Nell B. Herrin, 93, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Universal Healthcare of Concord. She was born in Cabarrus County to the late John Harrison and Laura Ella Blackwelder on March 25, 1919. Together with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Lee Herrin, brothers; James (Red) Blackwelder, Glenn Blackwelder, Joe (Doc) Blackwelder, and sisters; Virginia (Jean) Sossamon, Pauline Blackwelder and Gladys Blackwelder. She was also preceded in death by step-daughter, Daphne Rowland and step-son, Jack Herrin. She is survived by her daughter Shirley H. Settlemyre of Charlotte and step-son Jerry F. Herrin and wife Jacille, of Mt. Pleasant, NC. She is also survived by grandchild, Kim Settlemyre Fitzgerald and step-grandchildren, Vicki Herrin, Steve Rowland, Donna Kluttz, Dennis Herrin, Robin Safrit, and eight great-grandchildren. Mrs. Herrin was a longtime member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church, Mt. Pleasant, NC. The family will receive friends from 3 PM to 4 PM on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at Oak Grove United Methodist Church. The funeral service will follow at 4 PM with Rev. Ervin Houser officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oak Grove UMC, 32056 Herrin Grove Rd., Mt. Pleasant, NC 28124.
