Our mother was blessed with several talents.  She was a fantastic mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and wife.  She loved everyone in our family dearly and enjoyed spending time with us.  Our mother was a gifted seamstress, artist, musician and singer.  She enjoyed her sewing ability for all of her lifetime.  When she was old enough to go to work, she sewed in the textile industry.  After issues with her health, she realized her love of sewing would be a great business.  With one SINGER sewing machine she began sewing for the public.  From fixing hems & buttons to designing and making garments and choir robes for Church.  She finally obtained a contract with the Albemarle Police Department making the Police women’s uniforms at which she continued to do for approximately 2 years.  After that adventure she did contract sewing making tee shirts until our dad died in 1993.  After dad died and the sewing industry declined in North Carolina, she had a heart attack that ended her sewing career in 1995.

Mom always loved studying her bible, working in the yard taking care of her flowers, canning and gardening and taking care of her little dog, Charlie.  She enjoyed going to the coast with our dad on fishing trips and going to races with their friends and their family from Concord NC.  Dad worked on the race car with his friend, Johnnie Ray Eury.  Mom and Johnnie’s (Chief’s) wife, Pearl became best of friends and the two couples have been lifelong friends for many years.  Mom pretty much took it easy after that.  My brother came home from Florida and took care of her until her health started to decline and she could not take care of herself any longer.  My brother and I made the decision to place mom in assisted living where she lived until she passed.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Stanly County, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital of Charlotte, Shriner's Hospital, or Trinity Place.
