Nellie Thompson

Nellie Vera Lowder Thompson, age 88, of 1023 West Oakwood Ave., Albemarle, died November 29, 2009 at Stanly Regional Medical Center. She was the daughter of the late Jacob Sydney Lowder and Anna Curlee Lowder and was born in Stanly County. She is also preceded in death by her husband Odell Edmond Thompson. She is survived by her son Leonard Thompson and wife Marion of Albemarle, daughter Patricia T. Mauldin of Albemarle, 2 half-sisters Edna Ussery and Marie Ussery, both of Albemarle, half-brother Hoyle Lowder of Albemarle and four grandchildren; Eddie Thompson, Lori Burris, Pan Furr and Ternie Thompson. She has 9 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. She loved her family. A visitation will take place at Hartsell Funeral Home – Albemarle on Tuesday, Dec. 1 from 6 – 8 PM. A chapel service will be held at Hartsell Funeral Home’s Lefler Memorial Chapel – Albemarle on Wednesday, Dec. 2 at 11:00 AM. The family meeting place will be at 1225 Corbin St., Albemarle, which is off Pennington Rd. Internment will take place after the service at Fairview Cemetery.
