Nina Whitley

Nina Dixon Smith Whitley, of Locust, a devoted daughter, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, was called to heaven on December 13, 2011. Nina was born on March 8, 1926. She was a long standing member of Locust First Baptist Church and officer of the Ladies Sunday School Class. A faithful servant of God, ministering to family and friends needs at all times She was the loving wife to Fletcher Lee Whitley who died in 2009. Nina is survived by her son Jerry Whitley and wife Audrey of Charlotte, NC, daughter-in-law Linda Barbee and husband Rex of Locust; grandson Chad Whitley and wife Jodi, 2 step-grandchildren Elizabeth Couturier and husband Scotty of Matthews, Thomas Whitley and wife Trinity of FL, great-grandchildren Blake and Kenzie, step great-grandchildren James and Grace, one sister Geneva Caveny of Kings Mountain, dear friends, Hazel Helms of Oakboro and Evelyn Little of FL. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm Thursday, December 15th at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland. The service will be Friday, 4:00 pm December 15th at First Baptist Church of Locust, with a 30 minute state, with Dr. Kinney Wallace officiating. The burial will immediately follow at church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Stanly County, 960 North First Street, Albemarle, NC 28001.
