Mr. Norman T. Haslop, 83, of Waxhaw, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at Atrium Health Pineville, NC.
Mr. Haslop was born November 22, 1939 in Elyria, Ohio to the late Norman Edward Haslop and the late Virginia Rose Sinegar Haslop.
He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mrs. Peggy Marie Smith Haslop, his brother, Brian Haslop, his sister, Cynthia Haslop Warner, and daughter, Michelle Moore.
Growing up in Ohio, Norm graduated North Ridgeville High School in 1957. As a young man, he began raising a family in his home state. Later in life, he and Peggy would move to North Carolina for warmer weather and new opportunities. Before leaving Ohio, he completed one of his dreams by graduating Ohio State with a Bachelor of Science in Education. A man with a keen eye for detail and passion for creativity, he was also a skilled craftsman, working in some of the Charlotte area’s most prestigious homes. Upon retirement, Norm was able to devote more time to another creative side, his love for art. Always wanting to learn new things and expand his skill set, he began to hone this artistic talent further. He enjoyed creating many original pieces, from portraits to landscapes.
An active member and leader in church throughout his life, Norm was completely dedicated to serve the Lord and be a godly example in all his endeavors. Above all, the heartbeat and most important part of his life was his family.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 20th at 2:00 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home of Harrisburg and will be officiated by Rev. Erik S. Johnson. A private ceremony and inurnment will follow at Forest Lawn East Cemetery located at 3709 Forest Lawn Dr., Matthews.
Survivors include sons, David Haslop (Donna) of Ada, OH, Daniel Haslop (Ginger) of Fargo, ND, Darin Leach of Homosassa, FL, John Moore of Lima, OH, Cory M. Haslop of Charlotte, NC, daughters, Deanne Haslop Kilgore of Charlotte, NC, Sarah-Eileen Soleil of Asheville, NC. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Brother, Gary Haslop of Chillicothe, OH, Sister, Dillagene Hayba (Paul, deceased) of Havana, AR.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude and Waxhaw Presbyterian Church.
