Norman Brooks

Wayne "Paw-Paw" Brooks, 68 years of age, of Harrisburg, passed away Monday, December 5, 2016 at Duke University Medical Center in Durham.

Wayne was born October 14, 1948 in Anson County, North Carolina to the late James Alonzo Brooks and Bessie Meigs Brooks. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Joyce Moore and Shirley Lowe.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Providence Baptist Church in Harrisburg. The funeral service will be Friday, 11:00 am at Providence Baptist Church in Harrisburg, officiated by Dr. Steve Davis. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park Harrisburg, 12025 University City Blvd., Charlotte.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Peggy Brooks of Harrisburg; his daughter, Shannon Brooks Davis of Concord; his son, Jason Curtis Brooks and wife Jenny of Concord; three grandsons, Zach Davis, Kenan Brooks and Ryker Brooks; three sisters, Jewel McCumbee of Shallotte, NC, Dot Brown of Charlotte and Margaret Hough of Charlotte, also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.

Wayne was a loving husband, dad and dedicated paw-paw. He was an avid hunter, coach in the Harrisburg Youth League, volunteer with the Central Cabarrus Booster Club and was retired as a supervisor with the N.C.D.O.T. Wayne always put others before himself and was a member of River Rock Church. He enjoyed going to his home place in Polkton to "piddle". Wayne's greatest joy was attending his grandsons activities, supporting them and loving them to the moon and back. He will be missed by all.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Wayne's memory may be made to the building fund at River Rock Church 930 Lee Ann Drive Concord NC 28025.
