Norman Frigault, 87, of Concord, North Carolina passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 on the heels of a week-long beach vacation with his beloved wife Madeleine and their entire family.
Norm was born on September 22, 1934 to John and Blanche Frigault in Willimantic, CT. From humble beginnings, his love of music, family and country underscored his many achievements in life. Norm was a professional jazz musician early on in his career. Drumming remained a passion throughout his life and his constant tapping will be missed. Norm was a loving and devoted husband and father who taught us the importance of family, faith, kindness - and most of all, humor to walk successfully and happily through life.
Norm served in the Army National Guard and the US Army, and retired as a Lt. Colonel after 30 years. During the military, his specialty was air defense, instruction, and logistics. He graduated from the University of Texas-El Paso and later received his Masters of Education degree from Pepperdine University. Norm was a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War. After retiring from the military, Norm worked for the US Civil Service at Camp Grasso (Connecticut), Fort Belvoir (Virginia), Fifth Corps Headquarters (Germany) and Fort Lee (Virginia). During his retirement in Chester, VA, Norm devoted many years to volunteer work with the Dale Ruritan and Crime Solvers civic organizations.
Norm’s quick wit, love of life and laughter was infectious to those who knew him. He was happiest when surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Norm is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Madeleine (nee Deslandes), his children, Elizabeth Frigault, Catherine Rutledge (Kyle), Michelle Frigault (Ann Burrell), Norm Frigault, Jr. (Holly Hunt), and Michael Frigault (Jennifer). He is also survived by his grandchildren, who he adored: Carly Goldbrum, Ross Goldbrum, Annie Rutledge, Claire Rutledge, Kayla Frigault, and Isabel Frigault.
