Norman Morgan

Rev. Norman Kenneth Morgan, Sr. was promoted to the Church Triumphant on Friday, March 25, 2011, at the Serenity House in Mooresville, NC. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 28, 2011 at Fairview Memorial Park in Albemarle, NC. Rev. Murray Page will officiate. Norman was born on December 10, 1925 to Eben C. and Mamie Herrin Morgan in Albemarle, NC. He attended the Albemarle public schools and Pfieffer College before obtaining his B.A. degree in Sociology from Duke University in 1948. He received his Master of Divinity degree from Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, Virginia in 1951 and was ordained as Minister at the First Presbyterian Church of Pineville, WV where he served from 1952 to 1961. Norman then accepted a call from the First Presbyterian Church of Logan, WV where he served for the next twenty-eight years until retiring to Lake Norman in Mooresville in 1988. Rev. Morgan served as Moderator of the Presbytery of Greenbrier and the Synod of West Virginia. He was honored by being elected Pastor Emeritus of the First Presbyterian Church of Logan. Norman is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betsy Lippard Morgan; a daughter, Martha Ann (Salvatore) Rini of Myrtle Beach, SC; a son, Norman K. (Carrol) Morgan, Jr. of Christiansburg, VA; brother, Olen E. (Betty Jean) Morgan of Charlotte, NC; brother-in-law Joseph W. Lippard of Albemarle; sisters-in-law, Martha Smythe and Betty Sue Rhye; grandson, Daniel Morgan of New York, NY; granddaughter, Meredith Morgan of Atlanta, GA, and seven nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Palliative CareCenter & Hospice of Catawba Valley, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, NC 28658, the Serenity House, 110 Centre Church Road, Mooresville, NC 28117, or to a charity of your choice. Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle is serving the Morgan family.
