Norman Arthur Reece, 78, of Kannapolis, passed away on Monday, August 9, 2010 at Levine Dickson Hospice House. He was born on January 5, 1932 in Honolulu, Hawaii to the late Jerry Arnold and Marie Morris Reece Allan. A visitation will be held at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord on Thursday, August 12, 2010 from 5:00 until 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at Hartsell Funeral Home in the Chapel on Friday, August 13, 2010 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Terry Penland. Burial will be at West Concord Cemetery. Norman served in the Korean War with the US Air Force. He was a member of Concord Wesleyan Church and and aircraft mechanic with Lockheed and Rockwell. He is survived by, his wife Ruth "Susie" Reece, of the home; sons, Steven Reece and wife, Ursula, of Germany and Patrick Reece and wife, Lika, of Michigan; daughters, Norma Groundwater and husband Donald, of Lancaster, SC, Regina Gunnet and husband Jeffrey, of Albany, GA, and Maggie Clark and husband Ken, of Indian Trail; sisters, Jerilynn Smith, of San Diego, CA, Grace Newton, of Kentucky, and Linda Kavanaugh, of Ventura, CA; step daughters, Frances Crayton, of Smithfield and Barbara Mullis, of Midland;19 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He is preceeded in death by his parents and a son, Larry Reece.
