Obie Furr

Obie Perry “Jessie” Furr, 86 of Concord, passed away on Sunday, June 10, 2012, at Carolinas Medical Center - Northeast in Concord. The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord on Wednesday, June 13, 2012, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Raymond Ross, will be held in the Hartsell Funeral Home chapel on Thursday, June 14, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. Obie was born on April 16, 1926 in Stanly County to the late John P. “Jessie” Furr and the late Etta Eury Furr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Claudie Furr, Walter Furr, Robert Furr and Fred Furr; and six sisters, Ruby Drye, Ruth Herlocker, Madie Harvell, Lena Adams, Liddie Russ and Bessie Obrien. He is survived by three children, Nancy Drye and husband, Roy, Rebecca Basham-Littles, Billy Furr and wife, Katerenia; two sisters, Annie Herlocker and Bertia Holloman and husband, David; nine grandchildren, Kathy Coe, Carrie Furr, Ryan Furr, Roy Drye, III, Jody Drye, Cameron Moore, Aaliyah Littles and Stephanie Flemings; and six great-grandchildren, Destiny Flemings, Gabriel Basham, Eathen Underwood, Brittany Coe, Hunter Coe and Aaron Coe. Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord is serving the Furr family.
