Odell Allen Garmon, 86 of Concord, passed away on March 7, 2012 at the home of a daughter in Oak Island, NC. A Graveside Memorial Service will be held at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis on Sunday, April 15, 2012 at 2 pm, with military rites performed by Cabarrus County Veterans Honor Guard. Odell was born on January 17, 1927 in Cabarrus County, to the late Marshall and Mamie Garmon Elwood. He was also preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Hatley Garmon. Odell worked for Propst Construction for over 30 years, and was a Veteran of The US Navy having served in WWII during the Pacific Theatre. He was an avid fisherman; he especially enjoyed deep sea fishing at NC Outer Banks and Santee Cooper, SC. He also enjoyed putting on fish fry’s for his friends in his back yard. Odell was active in the Cabarrus County Veterans Honor Guard and VFW of Cabarrus County. He was a member and past elder of Calvary Lutheran Church of Concord. He is survived by; sons, Allen Garmon and Kevin Garmon both of Concord; daughters, Gail Richardson of Concord, Judy Hayes of Fort Mill, SC, and Jayne Pethel of Oak Island, NC; brothers, Buddy Garmon of Florida and Seb Garmon of Mt. Pleasant; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
