Odus Burleson

Odus “Ode” Poplin Burleson, age 83, of Albemarle, passed away on Friday, December 30, at Woodhaven Court. The family will receive friends from 1 pm until 2 pm on Sunday, January 1, 2012 at Pine Grove United Methodist Church, Albemarle. The funeral will follow at 2 pm with a 30 minute state, officiated by Rev. Joe Smith and Rev. Tom Schnitzlein. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Graveside military honors will be conducted by Stanly County DAV, Chapter 12. Mr. Burleson was born on May 18, 1928 in Stanly County, to the late Ed Burleson and the late Mary Docia Poplin Burleson. He is survived by his wife of 61years, Geraldine “Geri” Foster Burleson; sisters, Doris Crowell and “Boots” Burleson and numerous nieces and nephews.
