Ola S. Furr, 102, of Concord, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, July 19, 2019.
Ola was born June 22, 1917 in Cabarrus County to the late Nathan Monroe Starnes and the late Ada Mae Penninger Starnes. She was also preceded in death by beloved husband, J.C. "Hasty" Furr; son, Everette Wayne Furr; infant son, Timothy Dean Furr; brother, Homer Starnes; sister, Louise Moore; grandson, Russell Wayne Furr; and great grandson, Brian Wayne McGuinness.
Ola was a devoted member and Sunday School Teacher at Roberta United Methodist Church. She enjoyed her career as a hairdresser as owner of Furr's Beauty Shop. At 102, Ola experienced a lot during her lifetime, having worked in Plant 6 at Cannon Mills and on the family farm, and being a preacher's wife. Ola's family was her lifeline. She was a very wise and loving woman, always placing others before herself. Ola will be dearly missed and forever loved.
Survivors include four grandchildren, Choanne (Ricky) Cole, Heather (Timmy) McGuinness, Marcy Harding and Julie Furr; 10 great-grandchildren Brittany (Josh) Owen, Travis Tapp, Josh Smith, Tiffani (Mike) Robinson, Kimberly Cole, Michelle Cole, Anthony Furr, Timothy McGuinness, Jr., Hannah McGuinness, and Jill Michels; 17 great-great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Carol Jean Furr.
A memorial service will be held 1:00 pm, Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at Roberta United Methodist Church, 3925 Cochran Rd, Concord, officiated by Rev. Perry Hines. The family will receive friends following the service.
Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County.
