Opal Dabbs

Opal Comactria Burris Dabbs, 94 years of age, of Locust, passed away Friday, November 14, 2014 at Forrest Oakes Healthcare Center in Albemarle.

Opal was born February 6, 1920 in Stanly County to the late James Fred Burris and Rosa Bell Eudy Burris. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Mabel B. Hinson and Rosa Garmon; and niece Elizabeth Hill.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM on Monday, November 17, 2014 at First Baptist Church of Locust. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM in the church sanctuary and will be officiated by Dr. Kinney Wallace and Dr. Tommy Ross. Burial will be in the church cemetery, 320 South Central Avenue, Locust, NC.

She is survived by nephews, Raymond L. Hinson and wife Wanda of Oakboro, and Tim Hinson and wife Penny of New Salem; two great-nephews, John L. Hill, and Jamie W. Hinson; four great-nieces, Cheryl Hill, Amy Taylor, and Julie and Rachael Hinson.
