Ora Charlie Kirk Hatley, 96, of Albemarle, NC passed away Sunday, June 26, 2016 in Kernersville, North Carolina.

The visitation will be from 12 pm to 1 pm on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at Main Street United Methodist Church, 1100 West Main Street, Albemarle. The funeral service, conducted by Reverends David Rorie and Fred Carpenter, will following at 1 pm in the church sanctuary. Burial will be at Fairview Mausoleum.

Mrs. Hatley was born April 27, 1920 in Stanly County. She was the youngest daughter of Charles Elliott Kirk and Ora Vida Cotton Kirk.

She was married April 14, 1940 in Albemarle to M. Ray Hatley who preceded her in death on October 13, 1973.

After graduating from Badin High School she attended beauty school and worked as a beautician for a short time. Mrs. Hatley was a homemaker for many years before attending Stanly Tech and working at Stanly County Hospital as a CNA. She retired after 24 years and was very proud of being able to help her patients. After retirement she used her wonderful sewing skills to help many people with alterations. In 2000 she suffered a stroke after which she lived with her daughters.

As a member of Main Street United Methodist Church in Albemarle for more than 76 years she taught Sunday School and was a leading member of the Women’s Society. She was a member and past Worthy Matron of the Albemarle Chapter of Eastern Star. She was active in the Stanly County Home Demonstration Club where she held many offices and also served as State President.

Mrs. Hatley is survived by three children, Luray Jordan of Kernersville, Ellen McKenzie and husband Wayland of Columbia, MO and Danny Hatley and wife Donna of Monroe; five grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and one great-great grand daughter born on June 27, 2016.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ray; one brother, Charles Kirk; three sisters, Wilma Ritchie, Prebble Crowell and Mary Rose Still; and one son-in-law, Roderick Jordan.
