Ozell Speight Pigg

Ozell Speight Pigg, 90, of Albemarle, passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at her home.

Ozell was born May 16, 1934, in North Carolina to the late Walter Seymore Speight and the late Jeannie Prudence Laton Speight. 

She was also preceded in death by husband of 67 1/2 years, Robert Loyd Pigg; son, Danny Eldridge Pigg; and grandson, Kevin James Pigg.

Ozell loved to travel, flowers and animals. Her family was very important to her. Even though she loved her son-in-law's cooking, she always wanted to get a stick after him because he picked on her.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm - 12:45 pm, Monday, November 25, 2024, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will follow on Monday at 1:00 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle officiated by Rev. Don Burleyson. Burial will immediately follow at the Stanly Gardens of Memory at 2001 East Main St., Albemarle.

Survivors include daughter, Kim (Ron) Casteen of New London, NC; son, Steven Ray (Rita) Pigg of Lexington, NC; grandchildren, Marisa (Heath) Roberson of Albemarle, NC, Matthew (Melissa) Pigg of Concord, NC, Michael Pigg of Lexington, NC, and Emily Pigg of Lexington, NC; Leah (Chris) Haywood of Louisiana, and Jason Casteen of Norwood, NC; great-grandchildren, Kaydence Roberson, Jerrod (Emma) Coley, Evan Coley; Elijah Casteen, Lydia Casteen, and Jade Casteen; great-great-grandchildren, James Coley and Liam Coley; and sister, Betty Burr of Wadesboro, NC.
