Pansy Speight

Pansy M. Speight, age 97 of Albemarle, passed away on October 2, 2011 at Bethany Woods Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 from 12pm until 2pm. The funeral service will follow at 2pm in the Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Joe Smith. Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Park. At other times, the family will be at the home of her son, Tom Speight in Albemarle. Mrs. Speight was born in Stanly County on May 30, 1914, to the late Charlie and Betty Duke Mills. She is also preceded in death by her husband, John Alexander Speight; son, John Speight, Jr.; and daughter, Grace Speight Howard. She is survived by three sons, Tom Speight and wife Lorene of Albemarle, Frank Speight and wife Jeanette of Anderson, SC, Kennneth Speight and wife Marion of Parrish, FL; daughter, Betty Ann Parker of Salisbury; and sister, Pauline Davis of Harrisburg. Mrs. Speight was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church. She liked cooking and enjoyed gardening, especially tomatoes. She was a special woman who will be missed by her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle is serving the Speight family.
