Patricia Conn

Patricia Amelia Conn, 98, of Charlotte, passed away at home of natural causes, Wednesday, February 23, 2022  in Charlotte.

Patricia was born on February 6. 1924 in Brooklyn, NY. Pat was the eldest child of Amelia Lamb, nee Collins, and Joseph F. Lamb. She attended St. Edmund’s elementary school and St. Francis Xavier Academy, graduating in 1942. Following graduation, she worked in a bank until her marriage.

Pat had known William (Bill) Conn from the time their families had summer homes in the area of Copake, NY. He asked her to write to him when he entered the army at the outset of World War II. Pat’s grandmother convinced her it was her patriotic duty to write to him. Following his discharge and enrollment in Manhattan College, they were married in Brooklyn, NY on September 6, 1948.

Their children Gerard, Dennis, Peter, Nancy, Mary and Kathleen were born in 1949, 1950, 1952, 1954, 1956 and 1958.

She was an active member of the Altar Rosary Society of St. Edmund’s Church in Brooklyn, NY and she eventually rose to be president of the parish chapter. She was responsible for organizing and running many successful fundraising events.

Her father, Joseph Francis Lamb, was a prominent ragtime composer prior to World War I. He was rediscovered in the late 1950s but died shortly after. Pat along with her husband Bill became frequent attendees at ragtime conferences throughout the USA, Canada and Europe.

Pat is survived by her sons Gerard and Peter; her daughters Nancy Spielberg, Mary Pagano and Kathleen Conn; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren in the USA and Europe, and; her brother Robert Lamb. Bill died in 2019 and her son Dennis predeceased her in 2020.

A visitation will be held Saturday, February 26, 2022, 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home, Harrisburg, NC.
