Heaven became a little sweeter on January 31, 2024, as Patrick D. Parker, 81 of Albemarle, NC entered those pearly gates and is now in the presence of his Lord and Savior.
He was preceded in death by his son, Patrick D. Parker JR.; sister, Shirley P. Kluttz and brother Larry.
Mr. Parker was born on March 17, 1942, in Stanly County, NC to the late Travis D. Parker and Inez R. Parker.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 am - 12:45 pm, Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Oak Grove Baptist Church. The funeral service will be held after the visitation at 1pm, officiated by Pastor Matt Forrest. Burial will follow at Stanly Gardens of Memory located at 2001 East Main St., Albemarle.
He is survived by his precious wife of 62 years, Norma W. Parker of the home. He is also survived by one daughter Robin P.(Jerry) Culp; granddaughters Savanna C. Forrest (Matthew) and Olivia B. Culp (fiancé Jalen); and three great grandsons, Braxton Forrest, Bentley Forrest, and Brooks Forrest.
Pat and Norma met at Purcell’s Drug Store in Downtown Albemarle and were married at the young age of 15 (Norma) and 19 (Pat). He loved telling the story of how they met and where their “love story” began. They grew up together and cherished the time they had together with their family, making many, many sweet memories, Pat worked for the Winston Salem Southbound Railroad for over 30 years. He was also very active in his church, Oak Grove Baptist, and served there as a Deacon and worked on many different projects and with many committees. Anyone that knew him also knew that he loved a good yard sale. That was his hobby and his therapy for many years. It allowed him the opportunity to get out and talk with people, witness to people, and share his testimony and how the Lord had blessed him.
He will be greatly missed on this side! But we know he is enjoying his many rewards in heaven. His body is healed and he is with his son (little Pat) and his Savior, walking those streets of gold. To God be the Glory!
