Patsy Barbee

Patsy Jennette Barbee, 80, of Locust, passed away Monday, May 16, 2022 at Novant Health - Mint Hill in Charlotte.

Mrs. Barbee was born March 25, 1942 in Union County to the late John Henry Simpson and the late Lena Bell Baucom Simpson.

She was also preceded in death by husband, Gary Phillip Barbee; sons, Ronald Lee Barbee and Jeffery Lynn Barbee; brothers, Willie "Buck" Marshall Simpson and Henry Paul Simpson; and sister, Mary Alice Simpson.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am - 11:45 am, Friday, May 20, 2022 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland. The funeral service will begin at 12:00 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland officiated by Rev. Joey Spry. Burial will follow at the Stanly Gardens of Memory at 2001 East Main St., Albemarle.

Patsy Barbee was a loving wife for over 40 years as well as a dedicated mother and grandmother to her five sons and numerous grandchildren. Before her retiring, she worked at Tuscarora yarns in Mount Pleasant, NC. She was a long-time resident of Locust, NC, where she raised her family and enjoyed the majority of her life. She was happiest when surrounded by her family always willing to give a helping hand or piece of advice to anyone in need. She remained strong even in the face of loss making sure everyone around her knew she was only a phone call away. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting blankets, especially for her grandchildren, and baking in her younger years, always making sure everyone had something to eat. Patsy will be rejoining her late husband Gary Barbee and sons Ronald and Jeff Barbee.  She will be missed greatly but never forgotten by those who had the pleasure of loving her.

Survivors include sons, Gary Michael Barbee of Trinity, Richard Lane Barbee, and Jerry Wayne Barbee; and brothers, Robert Lee Simpson and Billy Ray Simpson; grandchildren, Amanda King, Lisa McGraw, Tim McGraw, Katie Furr and Bobby Barbee; great grandchildren, Lilly Caceres, Heaven Caceres, Mathew King Jr., Mark King, Skylar McGraw, Michelle Barbee, Katelyn Barbee and Roger Coley; great great grandchildren, Kiara Ashburn, Roger “doodlebug” Coley Jr., Madison Coley, Leland Coley and Kacie Fikes.
