Paul Allen, Jr

Paul Bennett Allen, Jr., 83 years of age, of Stanfield, passed away Saturday, February 25, 2012 at Stanly Regional Medical Center of Albemarle. Mr. Allen was born June 28, 1928 in Mecklenburg County to the late Paul Bennett Allen, Sr. and the late Gladys Biggers Allen. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Kyle Bennett Allen, in 2010 and his sister, Margaret Young. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He came back after service and started working in the family business, Carolina Bedding and Chair Company, in Charlotte. In 1962 he relocated the business to Stanfield where it became known as Allendale Furniture. He was a member of Carolina Presbyterian of Locust. The memorial service will be at 4 p.m., Tuesday, February 28, at Carolina Presbyterian Church in Locust officiated by Rev. Patrick Womack and Rev. Michael Cannon. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall following the service. At other times, the family will meet at the home of his son, Rick, at 424 Sunset Lake Road, Stanfield. Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Gwen Weeks Allen, of the home; his son, Rick Allen and his wife, Janet, and his daughter, Kathy Eudy and her husband, Jerel, all of Stanfield; his sisters, Jackie Miller of Charlotte, Pat Rush of Mt. Pleasant, and Eleanor Helms of Charlotte; his grandchildren, Wesley Eudy and his wife, Brooke, Christa Huneycutt and her husband, Richard, Lindsey Eudy, and Ramsey Allen; and four great-grandchildren.
