Paul Michael Arey, 76, of Locust, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2020.
Mike was born December 12, 1943 in Albemarle to the late Adam and Juanita Arey.
Mike was a veteran of the Air National Guard, proudly serving for more than 31 years. He was a MSgt with the 263rd Combat Communications Squadron at New London Air National Guard Station. Mike enjoyed a long career in telecommunications and retired from AT&T. He was very passionate about his career and held multiple advanced certifications. He was a deacon with Trinity Reformed Presbyterian Church, Monroe. He loved God, family, football and spy novels.
Survivors include wife of nearly 37 years, Peggy Arey; son, Chris Arey of New Bern; daughter, Windy Arey-Kent and husband, Christopher Kent, of New Bern; stepson, Ryan Little of Cornelius; stepdaughter, Tanis Henderson and husband, Adam, of Troy; grandchildren, Trey Little, Hannah Arey, Cassidy Kent, Levi Henderson, Jaxson Henderson and Grayson Henderson.
The funeral service will be 11:00 am, Monday, June 22, 2020 at Carolina Presbyterian Church, 406 Renee Ford Road, Locust, officiated by Rev. David Yoran and Rev. Mark James. Face masks are requested. Mike will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial with military honors will follow in the church cemetery.
