Paul Keeley Herringshaw passed away on Thursday, May 2nd after fighting a five month tenacious Glioplastoma tumor of the brain. He is survived by his wife of thirty five years Ruby Troutman Herringshaw, step-son, Richard Bruce Troutman, step-grandson John Roberson Troutman, niece Lee R. Herringshaw PHD of Cambridge, Mass, son Wolfgang Kraske PHD. of Berea, CA.: and other family members listed Mr. & Mrs. Kenneth Ballard (Gaye T.), Mr. & Mrs. Fred Robby Troutman (Betty), Mr. & Mrs. Douglas Fagan (Vann T), Mr. & Mrs. Joel David Troutman (Glenda), Mr. David M. Yarborough, several nieces and nephews. Born in Cleveland Ohio he was the son of the late Waldo Whitford Herringshaw and Helen Keeley Herringshaw. Paul’s great-grandfather established Herringshaw Hardware in 1875 and was in operation for three generations; When it was subsequently moved to East Cleveland in the mid 70’s, Paul began his education at Shaker Heights High school near his home then went on to University of Virginia and John Carroll University in Cleveland graduating with degrees in business and accounting. In May 2011 he reunited with his class mates at the fiftieth anniversary of their high school graduation. This was a happy, wonderful time of his life. He was Executive Director and President of Centralina Development Corporation for twenty five years having also worked at various brokerage and accounting firms throughout the South East. His associations with his various board members and business associates were happy rewarding years for him. His zest for life was contagious and he convinced his wife to travel the Lewis and Clark trail (Corp of Discovery) to celebrate the centennial while encompassing eleven thousand miles in a jeep. It was a wonderful experience. He loved playing golf and enjoyed many happy years playing the links with his friends at Hilton Head Island. He loved all things related to U.V.A and Thomas Jefferson. Monticello was one of his favorite places to visit. There was always something to learn there. The family extends our most sincere thanks to all our neighbors and friends that helped us weather this storm when we thought we were drowning in tears and despair. All of these people helped pull us into the life boat. We are very grateful for two important physicians in our lives, Dr. Douglas Kelling and Dr. Robert Mitchell that we respect to the highest degrees. One of the biggest thrills of his life would have been seeing his step-grandson John Troutman receive his PHD in Mechanical Engineering, as he was his biggest cheerleader for all endeavors. There will be no services per Mr. Herringshaw’s request. For those who knew him no words are needed; for those who did not no words are possible. Sincerely, Ruby T. Herringshaw Memorials may be made to the Hospice unit of your choice. Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord is serving the Herringshaw family. Online condolences may be made at www.hartsellfh.com.
