Carson "Paul" Jenkins, 79, of Concord, died peacefully surrounded by his entire family on Saturday, August 29, 2015, on what would have been his 57th wedding anniversary with his beloved wife, Ruth H. Jenkins, who predeceased him in 2012.
He was born June 18, 1936 in Charlotte, NC to the late Cleaugh Amos Jenkins and Hattie Caroline Carver Jenkins. He moved to Concord in 1968. He worked for many years at The Charlotte Observer in the mail room and later at Charlotte Memorial Hospital in the maintenance department.
He had many interests throughout his life, including riding horses, providing tractor services for many, and beekeeping. Recent interests included spending time with friends at Little Buck's and Troutman's BBQ on Hwy 601, spending time with family, and was a devoted NASCAR fan. He had been a long time member of Cabarrus County Saddle Club and a member of Bayless Memorial Presbyterian Church in Concord until it closed.
Paul was a good man who never met a stranger and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need.
He is preceded in death by his wife, whom he cared for, for many years before her death in 2012, also two brothers, C.A. Jenkins, Jr., Vann F. Jenkins; two sisters, Hattie Ruth Jenkins and Edith Jenkins Blue.
He is survived by his only daughter, Marsha J. Greene and son-in-law, Randy K. Greene; two grandsons, Brendan K. Greene & wife Meghan R. Greene, and Kevin J. Greene; one great-granddaughter, Reagan E. Greene.
The family will receive family and friends on Tuesday, September 15th from 12:00 to 1:00 pm, with a memorial service to follow in the Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel, Concord. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Hospice of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
