Paul Rushing

Paul Efird Rushing, age 94, of Concord, passed away on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at Universal Healthcare. The family will receive friends on from 3 to 4 PM on Friday, September 14, 2012 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The graveside service, officiated by Pastor Bob Paige, will follow at 5 PM at Meadow Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, 404 S. Central Ave., Locust. Mr. Rushing was born on April 2, 1918 in Anson County, NC to the late John Rushing and the late Mittie Stegall Rushing Hyatt. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ollie Barbee Rushing; son, Ira Eugene Rushing; grandson, Timmy Rushing; three brothers, Pearl Rushing, Jessing Rushing, Lee Rushing; a sister, Novella Rushing McClester; two half-brothers, Ellis Hyatt and James Hyatt; stepfather, Alexander Hyatt; and grandson-in-law, Jimmy Helms. He is survived by his daughter, Kay Smith and her husband, Bruce of Concord; son, Jerry Wayne Rushing and his wife Becky of Concord; six grandchildren, Bonnie Helms, Darrel Smith and his wife Marsha, Logan Rushing, Brandon Byerly, Terry Rushing all of Concord and Debbie of SC; ten great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend their appreciation to Universal Healthcare for their wonderful and compassionate care.
